We think in pictures. As humans, we are visual beings that once relied upon, and now thrive upon, story. Science has proven that information is most powerful when it is captured and presented both visually and verbally. Visual narratives provide a deeper connection to ideas and enable insights to live on. As a tool for reporting, visual storytelling allows an organization to truly see the big picture.
In this one-day workshop, we will teach you the art of taking “sketch notes” and how to turn simple line art into a compelling visual narrative. No drawing experience or skill required! You’ll come out of this workshop with a completed story canvas you can use to share insights and impress your team or clients. Through this course you will learn:
History of visual storytelling: from cave paintings to emojis
Dual-coding theory: the power of combining verbal and visual expression
Fundamentals of sketch-notes: mastering the basics
Elements of Storytelling: outlining the character, setting and 3-act structure of your story
Putting it all together: creating your visual narrative
